The organisation behind lernu!, E@I, is now working on a new project – Lingvohelpilo (Language Helper), a grammar checker for Esperanto.

The main goals of Lingvohelpilo are to:
-         grammatically analyse and check texts in Esperanto;
-         mark and comment on errors detected;
- offer pedagogical clarification and advice.

The first two goals are the same as for most spell and grammar checkers, but the third goal makes Lingvohelpilo a tool not only for language checking, but for language learning as well!

By answering this questionnaire, you have a unique chance to influence this project right from the beginning. Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a good chance that the 150th birthday of Zamenhof will be marked in select countries (for example, Poland) on the 15th of December, IF Esperantists propose it. You can help! Send a message (preferably a simple one) in English to proposals@google.com, and convince others to do the same. Thanks! - Study Esperanto in a 4-day full-time course, under the guidance of a capable known instructor (there will be both basic and advanced courses).
- Study and discuss other topics in Esperanto.
- Go on excursions (during breaks) through a truly interesting part of Italy.
For foreigners the congress cost is only symbolic. Very inexpensive lodging is also possible. You can find information at the website http://italakongreso.esperantoitalia.it and email questions to esperanto@edistudio.it.

It will also be possible to take international Esperanto certification exams. After the event, everyone is invited to travel together to Internacia Junulara Kongreso (IJK), which will take place in Czech Republic right after SES.
Idea for Obama: Introduce Esperanto as a foreign language subject in schools

President-Elect Obama says he wants to hear ideas for his Administration. The "Top 10 Ideas for America" will be presented to the Obama Administration on Inauguration Day. Please vote for this suggestion to introduce teaching of Esperanto in schools across the US!

According to numerous studies and tests in schools throughout the world, children who were taught Esperanto before another foreign language succeeded in learning the second language much faster and better than without taking a prior course of Esperanto.

Spread this link among your friends and acquaintances via email, blogs, forums, and social networks (Facebook, MySpace and similar). A greater exposure of Esperanto will benefit learning websites like lernu!, learning projects like "Springboard to Languages", and the cause for the international language in general.

Thank you for your support!

As you have probably already noticed, there have been some changes in the system for sending responses to tutors in the courses "Ana Pana" and "Ana Renkontas". Now you can look at an introduction for each tutor and choose your own tutor, not only from speakers of your language, but from all of the available tutors. In most cases you can have the same tutor in both correspondence courses. Inactive tutors automatically disappear from the list of choices. We hope that you like the new system!
