Come to the village of Arrout in the Pyrenees - from May 1st through 4th, Esperantists from many countries will have a great time and enjoy the mountains in the sun... in a word, they'll spend time together in a youthful, international atmosphere. That's the Krokodila Renkontiĝo (Crocodile Meeting)! Under the patronage of the local crocodile, we will hike, play a lot of games in the forest, drink, eat internationally by the fires, and generally do whatever we want.

New Esperanto textbook for beginners

The Greek version of a new Esperanto textbook for beginners has been published. The book, which already exists in almost 15 languages, was written by the Slovakian teacher and Esperanto activist Stano Marĉek. It contains 114 pages, is abundantly illustrated, and is suitable both for self-study and for use in classes. The book is apparently the first published Esperanto textbook for Greek speakers in the last 20 years. New tutoring center

As you have probably already noticed, there have been some changes in the system for sending responses to tutors in the courses "Ana Pana" and "Ana Renkontas". Now you can look at an introduction for each tutor and choose your own tutor, not only from speakers of your language, but from all of the available tutors. In most cases you can have the same tutor in both correspondence courses. Inactive tutors automatically disappear from the list of choices. We hope that you like the new system! Comments and suggestions for improvement are very welcome.

Calculation system for activity changed

The way in which we calculate lernu! users' activity (which can be between 0 and 5, and is shown by little pictures of Zam) has been changed to be less strict; that is to say, with the same number of visited pages, you will now reach a higher activity in the scale. The previous calculation system was more appropriate when every lernu! page required that several sub-pages be downloaded. This no longer occurs to the same extent.

As requested by several lernu! users, you can now also search for other users by their activity, by whether they have a photo or not, and by a few other new criteria. Further, on the search results page and the logged-in users page, you will see more information than before, and with a single click you can add a particular user to your list of friends, or send a message or a postcard .

New fields and new abilities in "My profile"

From January onwards, you will be able to choose what personal information in your profile you want to be visible to anyone, what should be visible to no-one, and what should only be visible to lernu! users that you have placed in your list of "Friends". You can also show your date of birth independently from your year of birth, and if you have selected that your birthday information should not be visible to other users, your name won't be shown in the "We congratulate..." section on the front page.

lernu! will soon have a new appearance and structure. During the past few months, the team has done a lot of work on the new site, and the result is now online. NASK 2006

The three-week intensive Nord-Amerika Somera Kursaro (North American Summer Courses), NASK, will take place once again in Brattleboro, Vermont, between the 3rd and the 21st of July, with Esperanto courses in three levels. Aside from the usual programs and events, this year it will be possible to experience, among other things, language lessons based on an art course, the "cerbamika" method of teaching, computer learning, and the ability to constantly use the language in an international setting. There's a new game at lernu! - Cxapelludo. The goal of the game is to put a 'hat' on every letter in the text that needs a supersign. Then you can check and see if you did the task correctly. The game Litertriso has also been modified. Enjoy the new version!
