lernu! has been constantly growing and improving since its launch at the end of 2002, and that certainly would not have happened without the work of more than a hundred volunteer helpers, a small core team, and in addition, certainly not without comments, ideas, and contributions from thousands of lernu! users. The range of tasks to do is quite large: to plan the site, program, translate, check course correspondence, improve the dictionaries, publicize the site, react to your comments or answer your questions... On the other hand, for lernu! to exist and function, excellent collaborators are unfortunately not enough. To be able to accomodate many users, lernu! uses an expensive web server. To be able to follow the evolution of the internet and net technology, to grow and improve, lernu! needs diligent programmers. To allow the users to have constant support and answers to their questions in the right language and from the right person, someone must always be there to organize the communication. If lernu! wants to more actively publicize Esperanto, reward the most active users of the site, or advance learning tools and dictionaries in Esperanto, this too, obviously, costs money.
