When writing a text, you reach the end of a written line and notice that there isn't enough space to write the last word, you divide the word into two parts. The first part is left on the same line, and after it is put a hyphen (-). The second part is put at the beginning of the next line of writing. It isn't important where the word is divided, because in Esperanto there aren't rules about that.

But when longer words are concerned, it's suggested that they should be divided according to their grammatical parts, in such a way that the words can easily be read and understood. However, that's not a mandatory rule!
