Verbumado

Verbs are very important in all languages; a verb functions almost like a motor in a sentence. In Esperanto, the verb endings are very simple and completely regular: -i (infinitive), -is (past tense), -as (present tense), -os (future tense), -us (conditional), -u (imperative). However, verbs require a lot of attention in Esperanto, since there are both transitive (= can take an object) and intransitive (=can't take an object) verbs. Therefore, when you learn a new verb, it's best if you also learn whether it's transitive or intransitive. If you don't know that, it's difficult to use the important suffixes -ig- and -iĝ-, and participles for the verb in question.

In this section, we focus on these things, to give theoretical explanations and also various exercises that will help you better understand how to use verbs in Esperanto.

Happy verbing!
