Kontakto is a magazine for people who are interested in other countries, peoples, cultures, and societies. Young people (and the young at heart) from more than 90 countries read "Kontakto", and those who work at the magazine also come from around the world. Especially for beginners, some of the texts appear in "easy" and "very easy" language according to Kontakto's easy word list. In 2005, there were issues with the topics ORGANIZATIONS, FAMILIES, CIVILIZATIONS, TERRORISM, POLITICS/POVERTY, and FESTIVALS.
Here are the topics for 2006: WHERE MYTH AND REALITY INTERTWINE, ANIMAL RIGHTS/VEGETARIANISM, LANGUAGES (deadline: May 1), EQUAL RIGHTS/FEMINISM (in collaboration with the Council of Europe), GLOBALIZATION (deadline: August 1), and LOVE (deadline: October 1).
The editor is Ĵenja Zvereva Amis (Ukraine/USA), and the deputy editor is Joel Amis (USA). The publisher is the UEA, in conjunction with TEJO. Six issues of "Kontakto" appear each year, with an annual supplement called KAKTO.

How to subscribe?

Individual members and patrons of TEJO receive Kontakto automatically. Others can subscribe to it by way of the UEA subscription payment system or directly through the UEA (prices vary depending on what country you live in). It is also possible to get a group subscription (starting at six copies) with a discount of up to 40%.
