Komencanto is an international magazine for creative and enterprising Esperantists who are learning or teaching Esperanto. It is very suitable for courses, groups, and organizations.
The first booklets of "Komencanto" appeared at the end of 1992 as aids for participants in the correspondence courses run by Viktor Kudrjavcev. Since then, he has been the editor and publisher of the magazine. Issues had only 4 pages and were distributed only in Russia. The aim of the publication was to give beginners a chance to publicly practice Esperanto, to encourage the students to make their first attempts.
Today "Komencanto" is fully international; it has readers in more than 30 countries. Fresh and high-quality works of beginner authors who subscribe to "Komencanto" often appear in the magazine. The magazine contains many different columns. In it appear the most interesting "Lingvaj respondoj" of L.L. Zamenhof, and spirited advice, rhyming rules, and interesting language analyses. You can also find in it stories about funny adventures that really happened to people, games, proverbs, anecdotes, puzzles, crossword puzzles, and rebuses. All of this is illustrated with attractive and amusing pictures. Of course, "Komencanto" isn't only for entertainment - it also has a serious and practical part, with stories about practical use of Esperanto in various situatioins. Works vary from poetry about a home city to culinary recipies. The readers contribute much to the creation of the magazine.
Since 2002, "Komencanto" has had 16 A4-size pages and a color cover, and appears every other month (6 times per year). It doesn't have information on news events, so the contents are always current. The subscribers receive the complete range of past issues, regardless of when they subscribe.

How to subscribe?

Subscription costs are 15 Euros (or $15 in the US). The rate for Latin America and Eastern Europe is 12 Euros. To receive it by airmail costs an extra 2 Euros.
