Publications

"La Gazeto" is a magazine of world culture, independant not only of political, state, religious, and other types of organizations, but also of all types of schools of thought and national or international groups. Its aim is to bring Esperanto speakers reliable and propaganda-free information about all fundamental aspects of civilizations, societies, and cultures past and present, which are somehow important to the worldview of Esperanto.
To accomplish this large-scale project, small steps are taken. Only six 32- or 36-page booklets are published each year, but these booklets have been published regularly for the past 19 years. The magazine, which is published by the Esperanto-Klubo de Metz, is directed by Madeleine de Zilah. It is edited, formatted, bound, posted online, distributed, and generally handled by a team based in a village in northern France. The pulp is distributed in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

The usual contents of "La Gazeto" are:
Vortoj de la redaktoro: essays by Eugène de Zilah about Esperanto, about Esperanto morals and ideology, about problems in world culture.
Leteroj: contented or discontented comments by LG readers, objects, useful clarifications, questions inspiring curiosity, wise suggestions.
Nia vivo: lively reports; direct interviews; surprising short autobiographies.
Nia tribo: archival anecdotes about "green people" (Esperanto speakers).
Ni legis: reviews, opinions, information about Esperanto and non-Esperanto works, written by eminent staff members.
Nia lingvo: studies about Esperanto's most sensitive problems
Ili diris...: short but dense texts by famous thinkers
Ludoj: Crossword puzzles, Chess matches...
Ni ridetu: amusing texts.
Rakontoj: access to conduct, morals, and opinions of people from diverse cultures, by way of literature.
Ĉu vi jam scias...?: spotlights on amazing, noteworthy, or recommended topics
Revuoj: information about items of note in other publications.
Historio: analysis of historical events important to world culture
Nia kulturo: articles about diverse topics, from fine literature and art to social customs and mystical paths, from the art of translation to meditations on science. Translations of thought-inspiring works of famous writers (Mishima, Rushdie, Malraux, Fukuyama, Krishnamurti, Kafka, Churchill, Brodski, Baudrillard, Brecht, Cezaro...).
Debatoj: uncensored discussion of politely expressed problems (LG doesn't publish attacks against people and does not permit the use of ad hominem arguments) about any topic (nationalism, raŭmism, Sacco and Vanzetti, Usono, reforms of Esperanto, etc.)
